In recent years, technology has completely changed us, no doubt. We are fully dependent on technology nowadays. You all have at least heard about Bluetooth. Many of you have used it also. Bluetooth was a big innovation in the field of wireless communication. So, my today’s blog is all about this wonderful thing named as “Bluetooth”.
Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances(using short wavelength UHF radio waves in the ISM band from 2.4 to 2.485 GHz). It is generally found in mobiles, wireless gadgets, etc. It creates a PAN (Personal Area Networks).
The question is about who was the inventor of this very technology. There is no specific person behind this. It was invented by Telecom Vendor Ericsson in 1994. It is easy to use. It can be used as a wireless communication, sharing files and folders, music, videos, and other data. It has a range of 10m to 100m.
It was a “short link” radio technology, later named as Bluetooth was initiated in 1989 by Dr. Nils Ryabeck, CTO at Ericsson Mobile and Dr. Johan Ullman. The main purpose was to develop wireless headsets. But after few years it gained a lot of popularity.
Another interesting thing is the name “Bluetooth”. Why it was termed “Bluetooth”. Literally it mean a blue colored tooth. No, actually the name “Bluetooth” is an Anglicised version of epithet of of the tenth-century king Harald Bluetooth who united dissonant Danish tribes into a single kingdom and according to the legends, introduced Christianity as well. The idea of name was proposed by in 1997 by Jim Kardach who developed a system that would allow mobile phones to communicate with computers. Bluetooth is called BT sometimes. At any time, any place, it can receive and send data from one device to others in a very short time without any connecting wire. Its low cost, more compatibility and simplicity made it global. And it really was a unique innovation of late 20th century.
