Dhoni finishes things off in style,

India lifts the world cup after 28 long years.

Every single Indian had heard these words in the voice of Ravi Shastri. These words are the description of the one of the proudest moments for any Indian cricket fan.

As they say, in India cricket is not only a game it is more than the game. It is a religion which unites the whole country. 95% of Indians watch cricket. Here a question comes, why are Indians crazy about cricket.?

If you think deeper about it then you will find that there were some milestones in Indian cricket history which attracted people towards cricket. The 1st milestone was 1983 world cup. It was a historical day not only for Indian cricket but also for the world cricket. It made Indians proud. It changed the mindset and mentality of traditional society. It was a knock at the door of Indian cricket. When Kapil Dev lifted the world cup, there was a unique luster in the eyes of every Indian.

Media is one of the most important cause behind the success of Cricketing world. When there wasn’t so much advancement in technology and media then there was not any such craze. Media converted a common player into a superhero. Media introduced everyone with cricket. Gradually cricket and cricketers became popular.

Then there are also some cricketing legends who attracted everyone towards cricket. They are- CRICKET-just a game for INDIANS??? or something more??SACHIN RAMESH TENDULKAR, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil dev, Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Anil Kumble etc. And in recent times there are- MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Virendra Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh etc.

They are the superheroes of each and every child. If you ask a three year old child that do you know about Jawahar Lal Nehru? His answer MAY be No but if you ask the same child that do you know about Virat Kohli? His answer will be YES. Every child wants to copy his/her hero. You will agree with this statement that every child at some point of his/her life wants to be a cricketer. Because there is passion, love and respect in the heart of each child towards the cricketers. And who doesn’t want to be like his superhero?????

And the question remains of the craziness. If you will ask this question to a common Indian cricket fan then he/she will give you many answers. Because when Dhoni finished things off in style that’s why Indians are crazy about cricket, when Sachin scored 200 in an ODI that’s why Indians are crazy about cricket, when Yuvi hit six sixes in an over that’s why Indians are crazy about cricket, when Virat Kohli shattered the top bowlers around the world that’s why Indians are crazy about cricket, when India clean sweeped Australia in Australia that’s why Indians are crazy about cricket when Rohit Sharma scores 2 double hundred in ODI that’s why Indians are crazy about cricket and many more…world cup champhions 2011

I am also crazy about cricket and I am proud of it. If you love cricket then please type your experiences in the comment box.

Looking at the excitement around me, I wondered why cricket in the Caribbean, at the national team level, was considered to be in such a bad state. In this village, where age and education were revered, Teach counted as the celebrity. I found myself invited back to Teach’s home for a traditional Trinidadian meal of
